Hi everyone,

Being in remission is better than having cancer but often the side effects or result of the radiation leaves your body unlike when you started treatment.

Do you think if you knew about all the side effects and how your body is left after radiation, you would have made the same choice?

Share your thoughts and experiences!

Take care,

Lizzi

I was discussing this topic with one member, @Suez39. I think their response is very valuable and asked if I could share it with the rest of the community. Here it is:

"I think many doctors know what could possibly happen, but choose not to inform cancer patients, for fear they might opt not to have treatments. For me, and many others, there is no quality of life left. Your whole life goes through severe changes. It affects your financial stability, cause you can't work. You might lose your house, and have to move. You might nit be able to go on vacations, do any sports, maybe not ever eat or drink, etc.. Not much left in life to accomplish right?

But I truly believe God kept me here to help other cancer patients and survivors. We have each other, cause we know what you go through.

Lastly, I just lost a good friend to cancer. She was the strongest, most amazing woman I have ever known. She had a rare immune deficiency disease that could not fight off cancer. The doctors saved her multiple times, but her last tumor the size of a golf ball in her throat took her life. The tumor kept growing and it did spread. She had multiple pneumonias, cancer, surgeries. One of which they removed her tongue. She of course could not speak. She was 54 lbs when she passed. And she tried to help me and others. Use to buy things, and mail them to friends to cheer them up. Was an all around great person. She set a good example of how to be compassionate and thoughtful to those in need."

Thanks for letting me share, @Suez39.

Hi Lizzi! This month I am a 5 year BC survivor. Without a doubt, I would have chosen chemotherapy.
