Hello everyone!

When it comes to thyroid conditions like hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto's, or Graves' disease, many of us wonder: Is there a thyroid diet? While no single food or supplement can cure a thyroid condition, what we eat can certainly support our overall health and help us manage symptoms better.

Experts recommend focusing on a well-balanced diet. This includes:

🍎 Plenty of fruits and vegetables

🍚 High-fibre starchy foods like brown rice, oats, or wholegrain bread

🥛 Protein-rich foods like eggs, lean meats, beans, and pulses

🌿 Healthy fats in small amounts (think olive oil, avocado, nuts)

💧 Staying well hydrated (6 to 8 glasses of water daily)

🚫 Some things to be mindful of:

  • Soy and calcium-rich foods can interfere with levothyroxine absorption, so space them at least 4 hours from your meds.
  • Kelp and seaweed supplements are high in iodine and might do more harm than good.
  • Brassicas (like cabbage and kale) are fine in moderate amounts, but unlikely to cause issues unless eaten in very high quantities.

🔧 Popular supplements for thyroid health include selenium, zinc, B12, magnesium, iron, and vitamin D, but always talk to your doctor before starting any of them, especially if you're already on thyroid meds.

👉 What about you? Have you made changes to your diet to help with thyroid symptoms?

👉 Are there any foods or supplements you swear by, or avoid entirely?

👉 Do you think enough people are informed about the link between nutrition and thyroid health?
