Hello everyone,

How are you doing today?

Over time, your body may not react the same way to your medications. Sometimes doctors increase the dosage, other times they take you off and prescribe you something different. Tell us about your experiences.

Have you been on medication that stopped working for you? What did your doctor do? Did you get a different prescription? Did your dosage increase? How did you bring up this topic with your doctor?

I've been on Welbutrin for a number of years. I felt that I might be due for a change, so I passed it by my primary physician. She put me on Vraylar along with Welbutrin. I was surprised how well that worked. No more anxiety episodes! Not bad for a tiny 2 mg pill. Next we addressed the letter I received from my insurance company. They told my I'd aged out of Welbutrin. Since it was working, the NP-C said to stay on it and use the Good RX card to my local food store and the 90 day supply, twice per day cost was less than $2 difference. I'm 73 yrs old so not quite ready to roll over and play dead. Hang tough my fellow MS friends! Don't allow insurance push you around!

i took a previous medication that caused me to gain weight, so I switched it to Lexapro which has been working so far

Hi everyone. @LizziB, thx for question. Meds can stop working anytime, for any reason. My first line of thought is talk w doc about why they've stopped working, try to stagger dosages, up or down. Look into therapy, of any type. I believed 1 or more of my meds stopped working, but the psych changed my mind, effectively. So, no med changes lately. A neighbor I know, has horrible time on meds, they keep them up, they have more symptoms than previously. Their psych, I don't quite understand it, but won't alter his meds. He's as sleep deprived as me, minus the apnea. Poor guy.

What have u others found helps?

I have been on a couple of different medications for depression and my dr did have to try a few different ones to find the “best fit” for me. He also has increased the dosage before as needed and thankfully, I am blessed to have a kind Dr that listens well, cares for all his patients & tries to always help however he can. I just talk with him about how my depression is doing (he will also always ask) and whether or not I’m feeling the need for an increase. I am currently off of all antidepressants and have been very fortunate not to need them right now, but they definitely have helped me in the past so much!
