As for the future I was diagnosed in 2014 but the CD began in 2011 and it took them that long to diagnose my CD. I am providing what I have learned. I have tried topical solutions, massage pillows, neck braces, physical therapy, chiropracts, acupuncture, doctor prescribed medicine, (gabapentin, meloxicam, Tylenol 3), Over the counter meds, Tylenol, aspirin, Advil etc. The only mainstay in my treatment is Botox every 90 days. When I receive my shots from my neurologist, the clock starts clicking until my next dose. I feel somewhat immediate relief in my neck, but it takes days or almost one week and one half before the stiffness, aches and pain subside somewhat. However, all of the pain never goes away and stays as a constant reminder as well as a slight tremor that I have dystonia.
I have had luck with Kratom which is viewed by some as an illicit drug although it’s not except by one or two states and has been used for centuries throughout the world to fight pain and fatigue. It is available in most states, but you find a better quality by ordering online (there are many credible websites for this). It takes some learning and experimenting but I went from pills to powders and haven't looked back. I also stopped drinking alcohol which I was using to self-medicate from the pain due to Kratom which was helpful. I did start drinking more coffee than ever before but I will take that in exchange for the amount of money and embarrassment I underwent because of over drinking.
Topical solutions and neck wraps are simply temporary. TENs (electrical impulse to spot of pain) work but only while you wear it and you can't walk around all day with magnetic pads stuck on your neck with wires attached to the unit or hot/cold wraps.
No matter what I have done to treat this, one thing has remained constant the pain although at different levels. I can wake up feeling achy and stiff until I take my Kratom and then I begin to feel the pain overtake the kratom. Tylenol causes some cessation of the pain, but I am also afraid of stomach troubles due to this and other over the counter drugs, and they never completely get rid of the pain.
Tremors increase or decrease based on how much rest I have had or duration of the Botox (the closer I get to my next shot, the worse the tremor becomes and I begin to crane my head due to the spasming on my neck muscles. I stretch and massage my neck muscles for temporary relief; however, I have tried percussion massage and it provides temporary benefit for a few hours and it knocks down the pain a great deal.
Another thing CD has intensified is my depression. Although it is treatable with Effexor sometimes the pain and spasming causes me to sit at home and sleep or try to read to keep my mind off the depression and CD. Some of you will say, "How do you stand it?" I fight CD and depression on a daily basis. Most people wouldn't know I have depression until they get to know me, and it is because I refuse to give up or give into CD. We didn't ask for this, not many have it or know what it is, but by God I am still alive and will fight this until the day I die.
I am here to help anyone with CD
@Armor2 Hey there, I have Lupus and in cronic pain everyday. I was wondering what is CD?
God bless you,
CD is cervical dystonia sometimes called focal dystonia or spasmodic torticallus. Dystonia causes your muscles to stop responding properly to your brain. Shoulder and neck muscles will contract and spasms. I tell people to flex their bicep muscle until the pain makes them stop. That is dystonia.
I am so sorry 💔. What is the typical treatment for this? Does it help? So having cronic pain, what more homeopathic and natural methods have you tried? Are you in a state where medical marijuana is legal?
Thank you for responding and appreciate you sharing. I hope you a wonderful day. God bless.🙏
@Armor2 hey there, I hope you are having a blessed day today. I was wondering if you knew about Kratom headaches? And if you could or would please explain the difference between the red and white for me?
Thanks and I hope you are doing better 🙏
I believe that kratom headaches are caused by over reliance on a particular strain. I was taking a red strain everyday primarily for pain relief. It worked well for pain relief but it also had sedation effects. After three months I began to develop terrible headaches that hit me in the back of the neck and then moved to the front of my head. I switched to a white strain see what would happen. The white strain gave me more energy and headaches stopped.
1. I learned that over reliance on one strain might cause headaches.
2. Red strains are great for pain but can cause heavy sedation effects (listless, tired, and lack of motivation)
3. White promotes energy without the jitters that red may cause.
when I say red there are several different types of red as well as white, but that's a different story
@Armor2 wow thanks for the help. My research should be much easier now.
Have a blessed day 🙏
@naturalremedygurl wow this is great. I have RA and am going to look into kratom. thank you all for the great advice and discussion. @Armor2
Does anyone know if it has any success for RA? Even if it gives me energy because chronic pain makes me tired too.
@Armor2 What about whites and pain? Does it still have some pain killing properties?
@naturalremedygurl I too have focal dystonia like @Armor2 - That is how I recently "met" him and discovered he too takes kratom. I have for years been using kratom and have never met another person using kratom.
I used to get strong kratom headaches from whites, but I dealt with it and just started taking headache medicine because the energy it gave me and the help with pain; however, the energy in a way helps with pain also because it gives you energy, something pain takes away - at least for me.
I started taking greens and reds, but back to straight White Maeng Da because I need the energy for work.
@Armor2 What strain have you felt helped you the most with pain, while also giving you energy?
What is your condition @naturalremedygurl? What is causing your pain?
