Hello, I have a 4 month old baby and I'm still so overwhelmed with everything. I'm loving being a mom and I'm genuinely so glad I had my child. She is my little angel she makes me so happy. My boyfriend on the other hand is is struggling. he tries but he just hasnt bonded as well as I have because when it comes to settling her when she cries, he ends up becoming frustrated and gives up . And in the end I have to do everything. This is starting to get too much for me and I am really starting to feel like I'm more or less a single parent as its always me doing everything.I have times where I could just cry for ages and I'm constantly on the edge to attend to the baby as soon as she cries around my partner because there was this one time where I even got shouted at to attend to her. I like being a mon but it's getting harder everyday and sometimes i wish i could just turn back time because i can't seem to do anythign right. I know I'm far from a bad mother because my baby is so happy and i know im doing my very best but it's just so hard

Hi @melissa91

How are you doing today?

Congratulations on your baby! Parenthood is hard on all new parents. Your feelings of being overwhelmed are expected and valid. Especially since your co-parenting expectations haven't been met. You are doing great, keep it up, it will get easier 💪

Let me tag a few other Carenity members who can share with you some of their thoughts, experiences, and advice:

Here is an interesting interview about postpartum depression.

Hi Melissa91,

Congrats on becomming a mommy!!! Being a mom is hard for everyone so please don't be too hard on yourself, but I can tell you it will get easier, this comes from a mom of 3 that I raised as a single mom. It sounds like your boyfriend may be concerned about being a daddy, which is not uncommon in the least, especially if this is his first baby, he is probably nervous and unsure of how to care for a baby and those uneasy feelings can and will be felt by the baby thus causing the crying. If possible maybe try to set aside a time to talk to him, just you and your boyfriend and see if he will tell you what his concerns are and then you share yours, babies are going to sense fear and tension which will then upset them.

Hey, I totally get how overwhelming this can be. First of all, you're doing an amazing job, and it's okay to feel this way. Babies can be a handful, and it's common for moms to carry a lot of the load. Maybe have an open chat with your partner, explain how you're feeling, and see if you both can work on a plan to share the responsibilities better.

It's also normal for partners to struggle with bonding differently. It sounds tough that your boyfriend is finding it hard to settle the baby, leading to frustration. Communication might really help here
