Hello members,

A stroke can cause, temporary or permanent, physical, sensory, and emotional changes to a person: personality changes, emotional lability, impaired vision, impaired sensations, paralysis, ambulatory impairments, etc.

While treatments, medical support, and rehabilitation can help ease and improve recovery, certain effects that a stroke may bring about can impact relationships. Such impacts may require the relationship to adjust to a new normal, with the magnitude and duration varying from person to person... Share your story.

Are you a caregiver, loved one, or patient?

How has a stroke affected your relationship: spousal, familial, etc?

What has helped you the most? What has been the most difficult?

What tips / advice would you recommed to others?

Feel free to share experiences, join the discussion, and show support.

To whoever reads this! Do not give up!

Yes a stroke causes changes to someone, but a stroke does not define that person. I am thankful my hubby had a stroke, but eventually got well again. We went through some rough patches - I at one time was emotionally drained because I was a wife, a caregiver, a mother, cook, maid, and bread maker - but I strongly believe if you had a strong relationship before, you will make it through. When I say my hubby is better, he is better than he was, but he is not as mobile as he once was and still experiences bouts of fatigue, forgetfulness, and spasticity, but he is leaps and bounds better than he once was.

It takes time, a good diet, and love and support! Yes, medical team and rehab is important, but if they do not feel the love and support, their morale wil not be there. My husband told me the love and support he got from the family made him push harder! So do not give up to whoever reads this. I hope I can touch somebody with my story.

Hello! I had a stroke 12/13/18 and havebeen since busting my tail to rehab!! I'm about 70% better...still have some issues but willing to answer questions and help others.

I have had a very supportive family...3 sons and a great husband that has picked up the slack!! I am extremely fortunate!

Does anyone have to deal with multiple  ischemic strokes or small blood vessel strokes after a major stroke and recovery? It's a good thing I'm stubborn, but I feel alone

@Babygirl  I had multiple postpartum strokes that resulted in a secondary movement disorder, double vision, constant tingling on my left, and I am now wheelchair bound.  I understand how you are feeling.

I had a strome/TIA almost 2 months ago. I feel so different. I still have symptoms such as dizziness ir double vision. I work but i can't work 8 hrs or 40 hrs a week. I feel like a burden. My husband work 6d6days a week 10-15hrs a day. I dont want him to tire his self and he end up in the hospital.

I want to know what i can do to stop the dizziness or double from happening so much.
