July 25 last year I had a nervous break down. My husband left me after 38 year of marriage.....I have seven children and two step children, and a little angel in heaven.  I was in a severe motorcycle accident in ninety nine . I had a panoramic break of the face , which means every ball was broken . I lost my sense of smell and blind in one eye . I have seven pins and one leg and had to learn how to walk again ... emotionally ..I was raped....It’s a new way of life. I have to embrace my higher power and challenge on.....Prayers with, u.

@Kalynnj24‍

I'm 80 years old, dealing with memory loss, and my domestic partner (also 80) bullies me when I can't remember something. He doesn't have that problem and is 100% intolerant. He pushes and PUSHES and PUSHES MORE AND MORE trying to get me to remember something and no matter how much I tell him it doesn't work the more he continues it, yells at me, and brings me to sobbing tears. Senile dementia was present in my maternal grandmother and my mother was showing signs of it when she passed away at the age of 68. What can I do to get him to stop the abuse?

@m.00dy I keep coming back to it but nobody else seems to. Too bad because it's such a common problem.

@castledepress Keep your head up, try to get out of the situation you're in. I was with my ex for a year and went through the same thing. Your worth is what's most important. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, but you have to realize is it worth it? You deserve everything you give yourself. Someone will love you 3x more. Even if it's yourself.

@prin.cssaa Thank you for your reply, but doing what you suggest wouldn't work. I wish I could get out of the situation but there's no way I can do so unless I'm the one who moves out - and I refuse to do that as I'm the owner of the condo we live in (I inherited from my mother). I've consulted five attorneys in the past two  years and they all told me the same thing - this has been his home of record for close to 40 years, and bullying me verbally has only been recent since I started to suffer from memory loss. However, no matter when it started, trying to jog my memory, trying to make me remember things, does not constitute even verbal abuse in the legal sense. This just confirms something that I learned in my 50+ years of working as a paralegal before I retired: any correlation between the law and justice is purely coincidental and a miracle when it happens. I don't see a miracle in my future unless someone on this forum comes up with something nobody else has thought of and that might actually work.

Does anyone else deal with a spouse that has a Narcissistic personality. And now he has been diagnosed with dementia. Emotional abuse is absolutely horrible.
