If passed, it would mean that overnight care would be divided into two 12-hour shifts, aiming to protect thehealth and dignity of caregivers. Supporters of the bill say the current 24-hour shifts place too much strain on workers, physically and emotionally, without enough support or compensation. At the same time, many worry about how this might affect continuity of care or costs.
