A hyperactive thyroid, hyperthyroidism, generally causes a wide range symptoms, of varying degrees of intensity, such as an increased heart rate, unintentional weight loss, heart palpitations, increased appetite, nervousness, anxiety, fatigue, etc. It can also cause serious complications, such as arrhythmias (abnormal heart beat, such as atrial fibrillation), cardiac dilation (increase in the size of the heart cavities, thinning the heart muscle), congestive heart failure, cardiac arrest, and hypertension.
As a result of these symptoms and complications, one's daily life may be impacted.
