Hi, I am in dealing with chronic low back pain since 2004. I’ve had nerve blocks. I’ve had injections done steroids nothing seem to help my pain medicine does very little for me. I also have a newer simulator in my back, but it doesn’t help a lot.

@Tghewitt63 I thought about doing the stimulator, I’m even thinking of doing stem cell therapy but it costs quite a bit. Idk what to do with this chronic back pain. It use to be just in my lower back which I have lumbar spondylitis. I’ve had numerous ablations to it. It has helped but not enough. Now im having thoracic back pain and my MRI showed only degenerative disc disease. So this is just going to be my life for now. They won’t increase my pain meds and now they want to do trigger point injections which I don’t believe this is the cause of my pain. I feel so distraught that there is nothing out there to help me. I sure wish I had the money to do the stem cell therapy but insurance won’t cover it. If it has great success why doesn’t insurance cover it? I’m just sick and tired of living like this. I want my life back. I am a registered nurse but can’t work anymore because of this pain. I never thought I’d be the patient and would be taking care of patients for the rest of my life. I miss taking care of people and it’s caused such depression and anxiety so now I see a therapist for that. I just pray that life would of turned out differently.

@RockySparky hang in there! Don't stop taking what you have already. Do you have an appointment for pain mgmt already? Does your insurance even cover pain mgmt (mine didn't in 2019!) Can the Stem Cell company make a deal w/you, like a bundle or a 48 week commitment to using their product.. they are often willing to deal with you. Have you thought of YOU giving THEM treatment options? I really feel for you, my history is VERY similar.. and post job loss depression is REAL! ❤️ what state or region do you live in? THAT makes a lot of difference, unfortunately..

@Tghewitt63 Hi, I just joined this and I see your letter. My back probs started in 2003 so I know how long we've been suffering. I too have tried everything. Nothing helps or is a quick fix at best. Everything just covers over the pain for a short time. I can't get my pain meds bcs my Dr says I should be healing and they don't want me addicted to meds. WTF? I'm in constant pain, I'll be happy to be addicted! Shouldn't that be the patients call? Not the Dr??? I'm so frustrated with this whole opioid condemnation. The stuff helps us, OK??? Thanks for letting me rant to you, and I hope maybe we can talk more...Thom

I am so sorry for everyone that is in chronic pain. May God heal everyone! Too much suffering! I'm so sad my heart just breaks reading everyone's story.
Chronic pain sucks. Literally it sucks the life, the joy, the years out of oneself.
Arthritis everywhere but my back is missing facet joints, trigeminal neuropathy and trigeminal neuralgia, EoE, migraines, and TMJ.
In Jesus' holy name, may we all be healed.
Leslie ☺️

I've had knee pain for about five years after I fell while hiking. It's been a long road with lots of tries and errors. I tried everything from home remedies to various therapists. But things started to get better when I went to Full Function Rehab & Wellness in Woodbridge. Harshada Parulekar, my physio, really got what I was going through. She set up a plan with exercises just for my knee, focusing on making it stronger and more flexible. It took some time, but I really started to feel a difference. I could move easier, and the pain wasn't as bad.

Hi, I’m Kimi. I’ve been dealing with chronic pain for years, but, honestly it wasn’t a daily occurrence until two years ago when I fell. I’ve been dealing with constant hip pain since my fall and pain management has been unhelpful in finding something that helps.

@SunshineKiwi I have severe hip/ groin pain. Doctor says it is radiating from lower back issues. When I had a trial spinal chord stimulator, I didn't have a single episode of the pain. I am having a permanent SCS from Boston Scientific. I would recommend exploring their options.

@fancynancy unfortunately due to my condition, I cannot have any procedures like that done and the doctors don’t recommend electrical stimulation because it may trigger flare ups. My muscles turn to bone, and they haven’t figured out what triggers flares because they can happen spontaneously, so electric stimulation of the muscle can cause the muscle to calcify. It’s a complicated thing to treat the pain and I’m not willing to take anything that keeps me from functioning enough for me to continue pursuing my goals, so opioids/narcotics aren’t an option for me, and I’m allergic to morphine…it’s very frustrating for me. It sounds like electric stimulation is great…I wish the doctors would allow it

@PatOz7 SCS seems to be doing great. Friday morning I woke up with severe knee pain in a knee that has an old knee replacement. Stepping into shower was extreme pain. Cannot bend at all. I am going to try to get a walk-in appt tomorrow morning and get some x-rays. I am afraid that knee replacement is the problem.

@fancynancy I’ve never had a knee replacement but I’ve heard it can be a life saver. If yours was done awhile ago, maybe there’s been some new technique being used. Anything to get rid of the pain.

@PatOz7 Found out my knee pain is not my replacement. The replacement is good but there is a partial crucial ligament. Can't have surgery because I have been diagnosed with leukemia/lymphoma. Orthopedic surgeons are putting me in a large brace (I have a brace they gave me 4 wks ago) but its not enough. This will have outside hinges and I have to be measured for it. He said it could take 2-3 months to heal. I had to go back on Pregabalin and will find out this coming week of my cancer treatment.

I've had back problems for 21 years. In the last year I've had 6 surgeries, fused my back from S1 to L5. My pain is worse than ever. My Drs have said I should be healing, so no more pain meds. Dr sold me on the promise that surgery would stop the sciatica and the burning throughout my back. Not even close. I wish I had never met my surgeon. I can barely walk or stand for more than a couple of minutes. In so much pain 24/7/365. Now I'm hoping to get into pain management and maybe get back to some meds to help me with. Suicide is definitely on my mind. But I fear God so probably won't do it. I'm in such a bad place and for way too many years. Wife and family are tired of hearing about it. I hate my life. What do you good people have to say about all this? Thanks

@ThomRandolph A neurosurgeon installs it. He put a plate in my upper back and the leads plug into that. I have 35 leads so there are many, many nerves being targeted. I have a battery, they call it a generator and it is rechargeable. I have a small charger that gets placed on the generator. Typically, I have to recharge every 2 weeks. It is so easy. I have a controller and I can increase or decrease the charge. In fact, I had a little pain today so I bumped it up from 50 to 52. Solved the problem. When you come out of surgery it will be up and running. They start you out at 50% but you can bump up to 100. I have only gone up twice. It is MRI compatable. What is nice about Boston Scientific is that they will have you do a trial for 7-10 days. Doesn't require surgery. That way you can see if it can help with your pain. They target to get rid of 85% of your pain, Mine was more like 95%. If you contact the options I sent you for Boston Scientific they will let you know who in your area is doing the implants.

@ThomRandolph I understand completely! I’ve seen every specialist and have taken every pain med on the market. Not even a slight reduction of pain. Medical marijuana did nothing. Nobody has helped me get rid of my pelvic pain. After many MRI’s and painful procedures, I’m no closer to an answer. I was told I stumped the experts. It’s very discouraging. I’ve thought about ending it all but then I think about my grandchildren. I wouldn’t do anything to hurt them.
But I’m in constant pain that never ends. Two pain specialists have given up on me.
My last resort is a clinic/hospital 3 hours from me. Just the thought of trying to organize my life around going is exhausting. Best of luck to you.

Another huge part of my suffering is a wife who is not a “comforting “ personality. She seems to resist simple, helpful comments like “how’re you doing today” or “how’re you feeling “. It’s the weirdest thing! I’ve told her many times that it helps because it shows her personal concern for me. She doesn’t get that at all! We’ll go all day or all week without saying a word to me about my condition. I thought women were natural care givers. Not so my wife of 45 years! I get that she’s burned out, but my painful condition goes on 24/7. She’s resists the whole idea of saying even a few words to me and gets angry if I bring it up. Things like this are why people in terrible unending pain think about ending it all, and right now I have no medication to help with the pain. Things are pretty hopeless!

@PatOz7 Thanks for the response. My wife has masculine emotions that way. Hate to admit that but it's true. She's very un-apologetic about this attitude towards me. That makes things even worse! I'm the more sensitive one in our marriage that's for sure! So between that and my constant pain it makes for a long day!

@ThomRandolph Honestly, showing compassion shouldn’t be defined as a male vs female trait. Human’s should show they care about when someone is in chronic distress. Ignoring it won’t make it go away.

Hi, I’m in AZ and can buy all the pot I want or need. It’s not the best at relieving my chronic back pain, but it makes me a little spacey and dopey so I guess I don’t feel everything quite as bad. Opiates are the only thing that works. I’ve had 6 back surgeries in 8 months! They tell me 18 months to completely heal so I still have a year plus to go. Surgeon cut me off pain meds at 90 days, said I should be feeling better. Not!!! I’m in so much pain I can’t think straight or even carry on conversations. Too distracted by the pain and bad discomfort. Try some pot, maybe you’ll have better results than me!

Ambassador@Somya.P My neurologist gave me a script through the state dispensary for aid with sleep. It helps with sleep. The script is for low dose THC, so it aids with minor pain. I have learned through my trials of product that CBD gummies help with sleep, but not pain. In my state, CBD gummies can be bought at local corner stores.

@HelloKitty I started taking kratom when I was diagnosed with cervical dystonia, it means I have constant pulling of my neck and shoulder muscles. Botox is the primary treatment , 6 to 8 shots targeting muscles but its hit and miss. I told a friend about this and he told me about kratom, so I went to a kratom shop and talked to the owner. He learned I was an Army Veteran and sold me some capsules. Unbelievable the kratom knocked out the pain and relieved some of the spasms and pulling that was 5 years ago, and I am still taking it for chronic pain. I have found the vendors to trust and a fbook website to share experiences with others. Like all things kratom must be handled with common sense, and reading info on the web helps educate us all. IT IS THE ONLY THING THAT HELPS WITH MY CHRONIC PAIN

Yes I agree. Im on morphine and Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen and yours as well. I have some others also. If I want to work in the back yard, I am sleep mode if I set down. The next morning and at night is paying with great pain. Its a hard road in many ways. We have to keep going best as we can. Have a smile and good day to you. I have the stimulator too.

Hello everyone,
There are many chronic conditions and reasons that individuals suffer from chronic pain. Identifying others that are going through, or have gone through, something similar to you can be be comforting and helpful.
Use this discussion to briefly introduce yourself and share a bit of your story... what is the cause of your chronic pain? How long have you been in chronic pain? Any treatments that you have had success with?
