Treatment for Severe Psoriasis And psoriatic arthritis

Hi @jen25butterfly‍ do you think your psorias improvement is from the Taltz injections? 

Is the Taltz injection supposed to be similar as Enbrel for inflammatory control?

I have never heard of this treatment.

@gttngthere yes!! It was seriously amazing! I had been on the Enbrel and methotrexate for almost two years. It worked for the psoriatic arthritis but nothing for my psoriasis.  In fact I feel like my psoriasis got a little bit worse. That’s way when I went a couple months ago to my rheumatologist for my regular follow-up I talk to her about trying one of the newer medications that we see all the commercials for like the one with Cyndi Lauper. And that’s when she told me that dermatologist had been using Taltz  for years on patients with severe psoriasis.  And were recently doctors have been using it for patients with the arthritis as well along with the methotrexate. I mean I can send you pictures! You take the first dose which is two injections and I’m not even kidding two days after the plaque literally disappeared! Then you take two injections a month for three months and then it’s one injection a month after that.   I have only taken that first dose and one since then and my elbows are almost completely clear! I would definitely look into it and ask your doctor about it! I don’t even have to use the topical stuff from my dermatologist anymore!

@jen25butterfly‍ Thank you for sharing your experience! So happy to hear that you had such great success with that medication.

Since you have been on Taltz for a month more now since your initial post, do you continue to see the great success? Have you noticed any more improvement on the psoriasis arthritis when comparing it to Enbrel or in terms of the arthritis aspect, they are both about the same?

I would be interested to know if perhaps, since you had so much success with Taltz, that the inflammation in terms of the arthritis has also been controlled more.

@Lee__R   Thank you so much. And I do feel like my arthritis is under control as much as it was before. The only difference now is how much my psoriasis has cleared up. And even some of my last post the spots  are slowly fading. I look at them almost like skin discoloration or scars and it’s just gonna take some time for them to fade completely. But I also have very very pale skin which doesn’t help LOL. And I do believe that Everyone’s bodies act differently to different medications. I would just recommend that if whatever you guys out there are on now and that is it working at least try something different. I had almost given up hope about my psoriasis and now I feel amazing!

@jen25butterfly thank you for sharing. About a year ago I was diagnosed with psoriasis and for the most part I’ve had it somewhat under control, and with diet I almost got rid of it totally. Then I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and my BP meds flared me up quite aggressively, so I am trying to find a BP med that works before I try injections or a pull like humira. I wanted to know if you feel I’ll or sick and what side effects come along with getting those injections? If any? I am so happy to hear that it helped you so much, it really made me smile 

No problem. I’m so happy that it helped. And I take two injections,  the methotrexate is the weekly and the Taltz is once a month. I have no side effects at all.   The only time I’ve ever had a side effect is when I took the methotrexate as a pill, that’s why they switched it to an injection. It made me extremely nauseous  

I also have high BP. I take Lisinopril and HCTZ(diuretic) for it. With no side effects. But I’m a nurse so I know that everyone’s body is different. So not sure if those would work for you. But please feel free to message me anytime:)
