Marijuana / cannabis use has been a growing topic as it continues to grow in popularity for an effective method to deal with chronic pain.

Have you used cannabis to help deal with chronic pain? How was the effect... did it reduce your pain?

Pleause use this discussion to share your experience, opinion, and advice about using cannabis for chronic pain.

When discussing your experience with using cannabis for pain, the following details are commonly inquired about, and thus incorporating them into your response will likely be beneficial: origin of pain (e.g. post surgical pain, RA, OA, lupus, etc.), type and location of pain, type and form of marijuana used (sublingual, vape,  etc.), and dosage .

**** You may reference a specific brand, especially if you had success with it vs others. However, selling or promoting a type of brand will not be allowed.

Something else interesting to add to this topic and perhaps some of thoughts around this may be added by you all as well...

A new study that came out this Wednesday, the 7th of August, showed that states that legalized recreational marijuana saw a reduction of at least 20 percent in fatalities linked to opioid overdoses. The study found that the act of legalizing itself is not what produces the gains -- rather, states that have legal access via dispensaries saw the largest reductions in mortality.

The study did not look at what factors were at play, but it was suggested it could be that a growing number of people are self-medicating and "dealing with pain through marijuana use, and therefore they're less likely to take on addictive opioids." An alternative hypothesis is that marijuana legalization improves a state's economic activity and produces other effects on crime, incarceration, employment, and long-term health, all of which may be linked to opioid overdoses.

I smoke marijuana and vape the marijuana as edibles do nothing for my arthritis. How bad is it for my COPD?

i wish marijuana worked for me, i can't take it because it makes me really paranoid. something about it makes me just go kind out of it. it sucks because it seems to work for a lot of people but sadly not me.

I have a pain in my back and neck...trying to use different ways to get rid of it,  but marijuana definitely doesn't help. Massage, special mattresses, therapy: I can only recommend these three components. Marijuana only makes my mind misty and I still feel pain anyway.

Medical marijuana is already used in many countries because it does have medicinal properties. It is most often used for headaches. By the way, have you ever noticed that when they advertise marijuana, they use memphis skyline screensavers or something similar? Just a fun fact.

I have a medical cannabis card. I could not take the gummies. I felt stoned all the time. We tried a lower dose but it did not work out.
