Hello everyone, how have you been sleeping lately? 😴

Living with sleep apnea can be frustrating, especially if you’ve had a hard time adjusting to a CPAP machine. For some people, oral appliances like mandibular advancement devices or tongue-stabilizing devices can offer an alternative that feels less intrusive.

These devices work by gently adjusting the position of your jaw or tongue to keep your airway open at night. They’re usually recommended for people with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea who can’t tolerate CPAP, or as a travel-friendly backup.

💬 If you’ve ever tried an oral appliance:

Hi. Yes use oral appliance. What diff kinds are there?? Mine is hard plastic, bottom & top. Are there metal kinds?? Still So Very tired!! Who else uses 1? How do others work?? Who feels well rested?

I have not tried the oral items yet.I just use my CPap machine.The oral items sound great but wondering how safe they would be.

I did try the mandibular device because I didn’t have guidance from a sleep specialist. When we were driving across country, and I fell asleep at the wheel, my husband insisted I see a sleep specialist. During the sleep study, I stopped breathing 49 times an hour. So people with severe sleep apnea like me should not use the oral appliance. Always seek the advice of a sleep specialist before deciding which product is best for your specific type of sleep apnea.
