Hello everyone,

I was just watching that Park and Rec episode "Treat yo Self." The two characters go out and treat themselves to whatever they want for one day. Mimosas, mani/pedi, spa day, clothing, fancy meal, etc. It is just an average day that they chose to make special to break up the monotony of life. Maybe not to the same extreme, but do you ever think of doing this yourself?

Do you ever have a day like that, where you "treat yo self"? What kind of gifts do you like to indulge in? A Fancy beverage? A massage? A pair of fuzzy socks? Special items from Amazon?

Let's share the small things that we do to make ourselves happy!

Take care,

Lizzi from the Carenity team

When I was growing up, my mother and aunt decided what I could have in the way of clothes and even, sometimes, in the way of food (nothing spicy, for example). Then I got married and my husband took over buying things for me, so I never had a chance to express my individuality. Then, after my divorce, I needed a new winter coat so I went to Burlington just to look, intending to bring my mother and/or aunt to look at it to see if they agreed. Then something in me seemed to explode - I had a revelation! I suddenly realized and accepted the fact that I had a right to make my own decisions. So, I applied for immediate credit. It was granted as I was working and had proof of income by showing them a couple of recent paycheck stubs I had in my wallet, and I bought the coat I liked: all black, ankle length, with a hood and braided trim on the hood, coat front, and sleeves at the wrist - and buttons shaped like barrels. Mother and aunt hated it and tried to force me to return it and get something more traditional, but I stood my ground. I've made my own decisions ever since regarding everything. Recently, for example, I put streaks of different colors - purple, turquoise, and blue in my all-white hair (I'm now 82 years old). My husband (my second) hates it, my daughter loves it, and my friends are equally divided between hating it, loving it, and just plain thinking it's ridiculous - but I couldn't care less how anybody else feels because I like it, I'm comfortable with it, and I'll continue to do what I like.
