I just had a quick question. I was recently diagnosed with psoriasis (I am 58). I was told to stop smoking to reduce flares. I have smoked for over 25 years. In the last 18 months I have started getting plaques, doctor says it was dormant until now. Do I really need to stop smoking? It seems a bit extreme seeing as I have never had these issues until now. Has anyone else stopped smoking, did it help?

Hello, @Gublong21, how are you feeling today?

Thank you so much for starting this discussion. I understand your concerns about quitting smoking after so long, especially since you've never had these issues before. While it may seem extreme, quitting can indeed have a positive impact on reducing psoriasis flares and improving overall health, and many people living with psoriasis have reported as such.

Let me invite a few members of our community to also weigh in on the subject:

Hello everyone,

Were you a smoker before being diagnosed with psoriasis? Did you quit, and if so, did it lead to improvement in symptoms? What helped you kick the habit?

Please let us know in the comments! 👇

Thank you so much and take care,
