Hello everyone,

How are you feeling today?

Sleep apnea can significantly affect sleep quality, leading to daytime fatigue, slower reflexes, and difficulty focusing. Studies show that untreated sleep apnea can increase the risk of car accidents. Staying alert on the road is important, and managing sleep apnea can help reduce these risks.

Have you noticed how sleep apnea impacts your alertness while driving?
What strategies or treatments have helped improve your focus during the day?
Do you feel your sleep quality has improved with CPAP or other treatments?

Take care and drive safely!

Hi. Thanks for starting question Somya. Drowsy driving, yup, guilty. I try to drink some caffeine during the day, yet, sometimes overdo it. Caffeine does have residual effects that aren't always the best. And, SO many things have it in. Just take best care & drive when able to do it Safely. Don't have to be drunk, yet lack of sleep can have similar consequences. Simply do your best, daily. Do Not take any unnecessary risks. Get tested for sleep problems. A sleep study isn't a big deal. U just get hooked up like a robot, head to toe, w wires, getting Comfortable is a huge challenge. I've done several, & still manage to get some shut eye. Best wishes.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea 16 years ago with 45 events per hour. After adjusting to the treatment- a gradual process- which took several months, I got control. Now, I average 1 or 2 events per hour.
I have no issues with driving or any other activity.

I did join a support group and was fortunate to hear a prominent cardiologist who surprised us by discussing the link between apnea and the heart. That was a motivator for me.

Yes, there is an adjustment period, but it is worthwhile.

Michael

Well, due to other issues, I don't drive. But, without my CPAP, I am barely functional. When I had to go without it due to the recall, it was horrible! If I stopped for a moment, I would fall asleep. This meant that I was falling out of chairs and coming closer and closer to hurting myself seriously. Thank God I finally got my new machine. I never go without using it.

@Selkie319 wow, sounds Horrible!! I would use a ResMed, as Phillips Respironics was recalled. I'd suggest making the switch. Good luck.
