Hello,

I am curious, since there is no real beneficial diet for those diagnosed with MS, to see if anyone with MS has found that certain foods have helped with MS symptoms or had any positive impact on your sense of well being.

I am a spouse to someone with MS, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Great question! I am glad you are caring for your spouse! You sound like a wonderful person.  Some time ago I read about it being beneficial to take fish oil and Vitamin D and to eat a diet rich in fish because of the fish oil. It was based off of some studies that states that fish oil and a diet rich in fish can help with inflammation, which in turn eases the intensity of relapses. I believe it said the Vitamin D helps lower the chance of relapse.

I therefore take supplementation of fish oil and Vitamin D and try to follow the Mediterranean diet. I eat as little as red meat as possible, as well as drink as little alcohol as it can have negative effect on our nervous system, which is ultimately what MS is deteriorating.

I heard chocolate is not good for MS. Has anyone else heard this and know if and why it is true?

I wish I could help with this one but I don't know much about diet and MS either. However, I do take Vitamin D daily and I agree that Vitamin D and fish oil or eating fish help with lowering inflammation. Certain teas like Green tea with honey added into it by the individual is good for immunity and such, something else I drink but make sure it's decafinated or don't consume a lot because I noticed caffiene is not a good mix with MS, since with ms there is already head pain and caffiene in high amounts makes this worse as well as dehrydrates. Hope this helped a little and I will be watching this thread as well as researching this question since it was a very good one.

@copa20‍ If I had to guess, I would pinpoint the answer to caffiene and sugar but I don't know for sure either.

Since incorporating it into my routine, I've experienced reduced pain, increased energy levels, no more blurry vision and a noticeable improvement in my overall well-being I usually get the Ayurveda [This content has been moderated by an administrator] , they guided me through the journey of getting better. After my Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis 2 years ago, i stopped all the Multiple sclerosis medicines prescribed due to severe side effects, and decided look into alternative approach. My primary care provider introduced me to MS-4 Protocol from uinehealthcentre. com and i immediately started on their Multiple Sclerosis treatment, this MS-4 treatment has made a tremendous difference for me. My symptoms including muscle weakness, fatigue, mood swings, numbness, double vision and urinary retention all disappeared after the 4 months treatment!

@JohnMultipleSclerosis Welcome to the community. My doctor says there are no forbidden foods, but it's important to eat a balanced diet. You can find information on Carenity. See you soon.
