Power wheelchair for MS: How to choose?

Hi everyone, how are you doing? 

For those of you who use mobility aids, can you share your experience? When did you decide to start using a wheelchair or other mobility aid? How did you go about aquiring one? Is there a particular brand or model that you like?

I've had a electric wheelchair for 20 yrs.and I'm on my second chair and now my new neurologist has set me up for a thorough OT/PT evaluation for a new custom fit electric wheelchair. Talk to his doctor for a OT/PT evaluation for wheelchair.

Hello @Babbashelper, I had researched this topic in the past. I wanted to acquire a powered wheelchair for travel, but could not find one that would go in excess of 20 mph, which is difficult when you're on vacation. Currently, I would still like to have one with a faster speed to run errands, if one exists.

@BabasHelper I second what @MyMS55‍ said, ask your dad's doctor for a referral for an eval.

Has anyone tried one of those standing wheelchairs that can go from sitting to standing? I would love something like that to help support me while cooking...

I also have a tall Walker I use all the time. I'm going next month for a full PT/OT Evaluation at Swedish Neuroscience clinic in December 23.

I was living with MS for years before being officially diagnosed in 2021.  I got annual MRIs, and I did not take any meds due to side effects.  I had one flare up in 2021.  My legs decided to a break and I was numb from the waist down. I decided to try MS-4.  The numbness and Muscle spasms went away after a couple of weeks, but it took almost 3 months to walk properly without a cane.  In June, it will be four years without incident, and I am extremely happy that I made the decision to not take any meds and went for the MS-4 formula even though my neurologist got upset and one told me to quit my job because I will be disabled.  Well, I am not disabled, I still refuse to take those meds, and I am doing just fine.  Believe in yourself and go with your instincts.  Doctors don't know it all.
