Hi everyone, how are you feeling today? 👋

Some new research is making headlines this week about lipoic acid, an over-the-counter antioxidant that might help slow brain shrinkage in people with progressive multiple sclerosis. Participants who took a daily dose of this supplement experienced slower brain atrophy and fewer falls over a two-year period compared to those on a placebo.

That said, researchers stress that this isn’t a cure, and it’s definitely not a replacement for medical treatment. But it does raise some interesting questions about how supplements might play a role in MS care.

💬 What do you think?

  • Have you ever taken lipoic acid or other supplements for your MS?
  • Would you consider bringing this up with your neurologist?
  • How do you feel about the idea of managing MS with complementary options, alongside treatment?

This isn’t medical advice, just a place to explore and share. If you’re curious, definitely speak to your doctor first before trying anything new!

Take care,

Somya from the Carenity team 🌼

I gave been taking Alpha-Lipoic Acid for 8 years, and it has helped with my gate and balance. These supplements do not work for everyone, but it wouldn’t hurt to attempt it to see if there any benefits for you.
