Just wanting some input from people who may be on Medicare.  My husband retiring, effective July 9th & at that time will loose company insurance, needing Medicare to start July 1st.  We have already faxed all the forms needed to apply for Part B.  First time they were faxed, all 5 at same time & we get a call from SS that they're missing 2 forms.  Now all have been faxed again.  Have left 3 messages to check if everything needed has been received & if the Medicare will be started July 1st.  We've still not received a response.

Main question for MS patients is how has Medicare with supplement worked out for you with your doctor appts & medications.  Scary when for most there are a number of medications along with DMT. On the DMT have always had financial assistance & understand when go on Medicare can no longer get financial assistance. you apply for a grant.

Hello @Bellabay12‍, thank you for opening this discussion. I'm sorry you had issues with Medicare, they certainly don't make it easy. Let me tag some other members who can possibly share with you about their experience with Medicare and MS.

Hi everyone, how are you today? For those of you with Medicare, can you share your experiences with it? What was enrolling like? Does Medicare cover all the services and care you need for MS? Do you have any advice or tips?

@Courtney_J I'm still working so I still have private insurance so I can't help with this. Hope you get everything figured out! I remember when my parents retired that it was an enormous hassle for them to get everything settled and neither of them have any serious health issues. So I can't even imagine what it's like for someone with MS.

Firstly, get a Medicare supplement and quick or you’ll be screwed. Don’t learn the hard way. Make sure b4 you commit to any appointments, infusions, meds , etc that its Medicare accepted. And research research on your own. Be your own advocate. There’s so much the docs don’t tell you and/or can’t, tell you. And get on Medicare. Gov to see for yourself what is /isn’t covered. Good luck.

@Bellabay12 I second what @DebraBeyer said, definitely get a supplement if you can. Hope you get it all figured out!
