Hi! My name is Tammy, and I'm new here. I live in michigan, and I'm in need of some advice, if possible. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis on January 28, 2019. On February 1, 2019 I lost my medicaid. The state claims that we bring "to much money" into our household. Now, I had medicaid for the two years prior. I always brought in all my proofs of income, etc, including my husband's disability income (he also has multiple sclerosis)., whatever they needed. But, the last time I brought all my documents In to them, nothing had changed, mind you, they denied me.. they stated that to much money is brought into the house. Like i said, NOTHING had changed. Come to find out, the state had never included my husband's disability income into consideration with mine. (They said that it was their mistake, they overlooked all those documents for two years is what they told me) so, now, including his income, now put me over the income limit to be preapproved. In order for me to try to get it back, I've thought, what if I just cut down on my hours at work? Which I'm positive I can do, BUT I cant afford to lose any money, we're already barely making it . I thought, what if I just quit my job and file disability? Well, you cant even begin to file for disability until you havent been working for 2 years, which we cant afford, like I said, barely making it now. So, then I thought, what if I just quit my job and file unemployment? Well, if you just quit your job, you're automatically DENIED unemployment. Ok, what if I get myself fired? Well, unemployment will call my employer to find out why. If the reason my employer gives does not satisfy unemployment,  I'll be DENIED, and if I REALLY did something bad to GET fired, I'll be DENIED. It seems that it's impossible to get unemployment now.. all except for coronavirus now... but, the only thing with that is I'm getting paid through my company while off work for quarantine.  I really dont know what to do. I suffer every single day in pain, my brain has problems, the reason i started my m.s. adventure is because i thought i was getting alzheimers or something because i literally cant remember anything. I feel if i could get treatment for my m.s., it would make living a whole lot easier.  I would actually be able to LIVE. I do get treatment for regular dr. Stuff (infections and stuff), mental health, and dental... that is all through the county health department, but they can do nothing for my m.s., because that requires a specialist. So, my question is, does anyone, anywhere, have ANY idea of how I can get help?? The drs. Wont see you unless you have insurance, I know, I already asked several.  I need help, and I'm losing hope. HELP ME PLEASE?????

@Tammy1‍ If you are going to go the disability route, make sure you have LTD coverage. I can tell from experience, the LTD carrier will make your life a living hell while you go thru your disabailty claim. Most of them will only provide 60% of your previous pay, based on average over the past year or two of what you made, after your exclusion period, usually two weeks. If you have sick time, you can use that to cover you exclusion period, and your employer paid short-term disability should cover the first few months you are out of work, which pays a bit higher (usually 80% of your pay). File your disability claim with Social Security AS SOON as you are out of work, since you receive back pay to the day your claim starts, which you will have to repay your disability carrier back out of. Depending on your work history, you can receive quite a bit extra over top of what you owe back to the disability carrier. If you have kids, under the age of 18, you also can get pay for them. Usually the disability carrier, as everything draws near (typically takes between 24 and 30 months, depending on the severity of your case), will provide you will a disability lawyer as well, free of charge (the disability carrier pays for it to get you off thier books).  Oh, all the while, you can keep your current insurance while on STD, but you will have to go onto the marketplace while on LTD.

I appreciate your reply, however, I'm not planning on disability yet, I am seeking any advice on medical insurance, because I cant afford marketplace, or to pay for any other insurance, and I dont qualify for medicaid.. I want to get treatment for my ms, but, even drs wont see me, unless I have insurance, so I've been dx for well over a year now, but have had absolutely no treatment...

Are you getting insurance thru your employer right now @Tammy1‍? If you are, you will have to go thru the proper channels, go see your GP to get a referral to a neuro, to get some kind of treatment started. With privatized insurance, getting assistance for medication is a breeze, but once you are on state/federal insurance, everything becomes far more difficult, as I'm sure you know since your husband suffers as well.
