Hi everyone,

How are you doing? Have you seen this older discussion? emoticon cute

Besides the significant physical symptoms, living with a long-term illness like multiple sclerosis can also take an emotional toll. Adjusting to the initial diagnosis, coping with the fluctuating nature and lack of widespread knowledge of the disease, all these things can cause stress or anxiety.

Has MS had taken a toll on your emotional health as well as your physical health? Have you noticed any mood changes? How do you manage these feelings?

Take care,
Courtney

I'm currently on two antidepressants, Sertraline and Wellbutrin.  These have helped me remain stable throughout the day.  The thing that really bugs me is the significant prohibition from working, but I may have found a route around that condition.  The way I see it, I can work as a professional writer.  Does this prepare me for my future?  Probably not, but it will help me get over my permanent disability, and will help me tell stories to my friends.

MS simply put, drives me crazy. I am on Effexor for depression which helps alot, but the rollercoaster which is MS still drives me crazy.

Like right now. Its 3:23 in the morning and I am wide awake, but physically exhausted. I have night meds but apparently theyre on vacation.

I'm also on an antidepressant (Lexapro) which helps stabilize by mood. I'm usually fine except when I have a flare. Depending on what it is,  I'm sometimes  feel helpless and hopeless. Then if I get steroids, they make me overly emotional and crazy. The good news is I usually only have 2 major flares a year, so I'm only crazy 2-3 months a year 🤣

I have Primary progressive MS and I didn't want to take antidepressants or pain killers, so I have to be honest my doctor put me on canibis it has helped me with the pain and the depression. I do take my Baclofen, Gabapentin and Ibuprofen every day the Baclofen does help with my spasms.

I take Wellbutrin and Buspar. I’m also on Restoril. I Have been majorly depressed for a while. I’m always taking things out of context and becoming frustrated. It affects my every day relationships.

I currently take a low dose anti-depressant as well. It normally does the job, but lately, Im not so sure.  Between my work, the pandemic and the holiday season my emotions are all over the place.  As the stress level goes up, the M.S. struggles always follow suit.
