Most people with metastatic breast cancer find their mood can be affected by metastatic breast cancer, from trying to manage symptoms and side effects of treatment to anxiety about what the future may hold, issues at home and managing relationships. What about you?

To what extent do you (or the patient) feel discriminated against or stigmatized due to your (or the patient’s) metastatic breast cancer? How does it affect your state of mind?
Which emotional support did you (or the patient) receive from your (or the patient’s) relatives or your (or the patient’s) doctors (psychotherapy, support groups, patient support programs)?
Where do you (or the patient) look at when you (or the patient) seek for emotional support (social media, patient communities, etc.)?

Hi @LizziB

I did feel stigmatized, I think people had pity for me. At first I noticed people treated me differently, especially at work, but after a while, I think it went back to normal. Family functions were always hard, since they happen seldomly, they were not all prepared for the changes in my appearance. I joined a cancer group in my town. It was really helpful, and I got to meet some amazing people. I didn't really look for support online, I am more of a social person, so I like to do things in person and chat, I feel closer to people that way.
