Yes. At times I feel as if I am too much for the public and I need to be alone. Or I also feel like I need to get out of the house and socialize. Just depends on if I’m more depressed /anxious/lonely

Hi @Cindi0118. Walls closing in, uh huh, I feel that way, too, sometimes. Scary & concerning, to say the least. I've gone thru treatment this end of ( never ending winter!!) & hope it helped, TMS, transcranial magnetic stimulation. Like ECT, but u don't get put to sleep w anesthesia. It's a fairly new therapy, maybe last decade, but, I work on call, so I had to be available when asked in. U can drive yourself to & from, do normal daily activities, & minimal side effects ( headaches or something). I want to believe it worked. My insurance covered it. I take my share of psych meds, & will till day I die. It takes a while to get approved, & I called so many places, just to get my name out there. Had it at Abbott Northwestern. Not far from home, at least now. Needing to move, for reasons I won't go into now. Talking w ppl is great idea! I can give u my landline, but working on call, never know when I'm needed. Message me privately, & we can exchange numbers. I use cell for emailing, texting, using internet, etc. I know what deep dark depression feels like! I feel for u. Take care.

Hi @Cindi0118!

I hope you are doing better today;

Living with depression can be very challenging and I wish you only the best. Do you have someone to talk to (therapist, family etc) about how you feel? That could be helpful. I will tag some members who might want to share their thoughts on this topic.

@kisslamarre @Mrspeedy @MichaelWilson1 @Forest92 @SurajRoy @Boymom09 @williamjacob @Billionsam @mrscarone @charding8290 @Tescott1981 @chais18a @Country115

Hey everyone! How are you feeling today?

Do you ever feel like the walls are closing in? How do you cope with such feelings? How long does that feeling lasts for usually?

Take care,

Polina from the Carenity team

Hi Cindi. I feel the same way. I also need someone to talk to. I am diagnosed with Bipolar, ADHD, Extreme anxiety and Depression . I feel so alone all the time even when there are I'm surrounded by people who love me. I'm very sad, and if it rains my depression shows up a lot more. That when I feel the rooms seem so small.

A popular metaphor for extreme tension, anxiety, or claustrophobia is the sensation that the walls are closing in. It frequently indicates emotional tiredness. You can break that experience and bring your mind back to the present by using grounding techniques like the 5-4-3-2-1 sensory method, which involves noting five things you see, four that you can touch, three that you hear, two that you smell, and one that you taste.
