Hi everyone, how are you today? If you didn't know already, a fistula is an abnormal channel or connection between two body parts. In Crohn's they often involve the intestine, so a fistula may connect two parts of the intestine, or the intestine to the vagina, bladder, or skin, causing pain and infection. They are relatively common, about 35-50% of adults with Crohn's will develop one at some point.
Have any of you ever dealt with a fistula, specifically a colocutaneus fistula (from the intestine to the skin)? How was it treated? Did you have to undergo surgery?
