Hello; I am 65 and came down with COPD in my 50s. I did smoke and so did my ex. We also frequented many smoking establishments when were younger. I am doing better now, however. I attribute it to exercise, eating right, and baking soda.
Are you exercising at all? walks daily?

I no longer can be the serious runner I was. I do walk short distances about 3 times a week, am short of breath most times.
Still disappointed that the "no-smoking, diet-care" that made up my whole life, seems to have not been a factor. Or maybe it just delayed the COPD onset.
I was an oddity among my high school and college friends. I always felt it didn't make much sense to put smoke into your lungs.

Interested in hearing about life health history of those with COPD.
I am 80 and developed this condition at about age 77. My life was a model of paying attention to my health. I never smoked, and was highly active in physical sports. As a serious runner for 20 years, my Atrial Fib attacks began about age 60. I required a heart pace maker, as a heart ablation was not possible.
Today I treat COPD with Symbicort and daily Spiriva inhalations. I am still short of breath.
It seems my healthy lifestyle did nothing to prevent the disease.
