Hi everyone,

I haven't been on here in a while, and since the last time, my situation may have changed. I'm still waiting to hear back from my doctor, but depending on how my latest results are, there is a strong possibility that I may have to go in for another surgery and have an ileostomy done. When I was initially diagnosed I think I knew that it would be a possibility one day, but now I don't feel mentally prepared or know really what to expect.

Can anyone share what their experience was like having it done? How are you dealing with it now? Is there anything I should know? Is it something that is permanent? How do you live with it?

So it's official, I'm going to need a stoma. Everything got delayed a bit from the COVID mess so I'm still waiting for the procedure to be done. I'd still love any advice or feedback from anyone that's had it done, I don't know what to expect.

Emergency surgery May 2018 , had a large tumor removed along with most of my transverse colon gall bladder and appendix, 23 lymph nodes. Tumor was cancer, lymph nodes negative. Diagnosis stage 2 , 3, cosotomy on right side, higher than belly button permanent end ostomy to prevent anymore surgery. Some adjustment mentally, physically was easier. Ostomy success depends alot on placement and stoma protusion mine is easy , I use a moldable ,1 piece, drainable ,clear nonvented bag made by convetec...wear comfortable clothing, lead a good, normal life. I refused chemotherapy which was a decidion I made after much research and prayer. So far, so good, 😊. Ostomeys are not difficult to deal with.
