Hello everyone,

How are you doing today?

Did you know that epidemiologic surveys indicate that over 40% of the adult population has chronic, recurrent pain, mainly due to musculo-skeletal degenerative conditions, but within this group, there is a sub-group of individuals who suffer constant, excruciating, unrelenting pain. This patient subgroup are commonly referred to as intractable pain (IP) patients.

This pain has been described as "a pain that is excruciating, constant, incurable, and of such severity that it dominates virtually every conscious moment, produces mental and physical debilitation "

What you heard of intractable pain? Do you or someone you know live with chronic intractable pain (IP)? What have their experiences been like? How do they cope?

Yes I am in excruciating pain everyday All day and can't find a doctor around here willing to take New patients please help me with this matter asap thanks 🙏 God bless you 😇🙏

I have MS and I have nerve pain that never goes away unless I take really strong drugs that make me unable to do much. It affects my ability to concentrate or enjoy my life. I honestly don’t know what to do!!!

I've never heard of this however I would say I fall into this category. I had to have 22 surgeries on my back as a result of radiation to my sacral bone and spine. When people ask me my pain level on a scale of 1-10 I just laugh because it's always at av6bor higher. There are some days better than others but nothing lower than a 5. On the really bad days I get what I call "SHOOTERS". THEY FEEL LIKE IM GETTING 220 VOLTS OF ELECTRICITY DOWN MY LEGS. THEY GIVE ME A JOLT EVERY 3 TO 5 MINUTES AND DONT SUBSIDE UNTIL I TAKE A HEAVY DOSE OF VALIUM. TO KNOCK ME OUT. IN EXTREME CASES THEY'VE LASTED FOR 2 TO 3 DAYS. I've learned to live with this but every day is a challenge to get up and get moving.

@PokerFaceJess Sorry for what you are going through. I also have intractable pain. Pain management has tried different medications with no relief. I feel that my pain Dr. can but will not prescribe something stronger to help relieve the pain. I hope you will find a Dr who is willing to help you.
