I had breast cancer for the second time in 2018, including tumors in the lymph glands. [This content has been moderated by an administrator.]  After surgery in 2020, my oncologist said I "look like a woman who has never had cancer." I have been in remission since.. I have MRI's instead of the Mammiograms that involve intensive radiation that can stimulate cancer growths. I watch the sugars including ketchup and desserts and only eat cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower and broccoli. I also am careful about eating too many high carb foods such as bread and pasta, It is a bit difficult, at times, especially around the Holidays. I do desserts in moderation.

Hi Joellen,

Thank you so much for sharing part of your journey. Living through cancer once is already a heavy load, facing it a second time is something many can’t imagine. Your story speaks to the everyday discipline and choices that often go unseen, reading every label, skipping certain foods at celebrations, making trade-offs for the sake of your health. It’s powerful and exhausting, and you’re right: it’s not always easy.

Sometimes we forget that healing isn’t just about surgery or scans, it’s also about how we carry the invisible weight day after day. To others reading this:

🗨️ Have you ever changed your diet, lifestyle, or routine to try to prevent a relapse?

💬 How do you manage the emotional side of “looking well” while still feeling the fear or fatigue of the past?
