Hello my name is Melissa and I am curious to know how others deal with their symptoms of depression and anxiety? I have many moodswings and at times think about ending my life. I am not close to my family at all. Any feed back for me?

When I have times that I feel like that I step outside take deep breaths alone close my eyes and just cut all the voices out and just listen to the wind blow … I know it sounds weird but it calms me a lot and when I open my eyes I feel like I have more appreciation for what’s around me and it makes me feel better … I know it’s hard and I have times I just can’t get over it but I’ve been trying different things also

@MelissaBench hi. I'll pass on some techniques that help me with anxiety.

I take a hot shower and just stand there letting the water flow over me. I visualize my anxiety and the causes (if I can identify them) washing off of me with the water. The worry, guilt and regrets etc. And when I don't know why I'm anxious I visualize the water cleansing the stress and focus on becoming more calm. This especially works well right before bed.

The other thing I find helpful is sensory deprivation. I go to a dark room or put my head underneath the blanket so its pitch black. Then I block all sounds . Earplugs help alot. I empty my mind. This can take some time but once my mind is clear of all the "junk" I feel better. Some people call it practicing mindfulness.

I will try taking a shower and see how that works. Normally I will go days without a shower due to depression. But if I make an attempt to shower that may be the reason I am feeling more depressed. Thanks for sharing with me. Evil From Melissa Bench in New York
