I struggle with multiple mental health disorders and even if I feel totally terrible I still don't want to talk to anyone about it and just suffer alone until it passes. Do you ask for help from others? Is it easy for you?

Hi @ricky68

How are you doing today?

I am not a medical professional but I think the generally accepted understanding is that it is always better to talk to someone than to keep it 'bottled in' and suffer alone. I think asking for help is difficult for everyone, suffering from mental disorders or not. But let's hear from some of our members who may be able to share with you their experience and their process for dealing with their mental health.

@Neatie @Inpruvi @HALBEL @Jlbekfi123 @AliceGrace84 @Richyboy @Suzanne95 @Echointhestars @LICladee @beepbeep3 @Jeannbean77 @kgumus @Lollo4 @Billionsam @Charlie77 @Michelle41 @33Baker @Sophia121204 @lpedi2024 @Blood31 @lawnmeower_ @Thatdizzyedge @op513_ @annazach @Karakraputo @Mommyof2 @RuSaved1 @Cyyber @Stuffame @Kiarap425 @Joipayn @LizB219 @mrscarone @charding8290 @Tescott1981 @Country115

How to do you manage your mental health? Do you talk to family, friends, or professionals about your mental health? If so, how did you go about it? If not, what is keeping you from doing so?

This is a great discussion topic and I hope people feel open enough to share their experiences.

Take care,

Lizzi from the Carenity team

@LizziB no it is not easy to ask for help when it comes to mental health illness. Finding a therapist that is a good fit for you can be downright difficult and frustrating, I have been personally dealing with this for like 2 years now. As for personal relationships, I have had more folks than I can count ask me what they can do to help, I have told them and they have yet to do anything I said would help. I know mental health illness is difficult to understand but folks make it more difficult by choosing to not want to understand.

Not easy at all to ask for help. It's a bit difficult to express what we really want and feel at that moment, that's why this forum is important. We don't have physical people in front of us, what make us more confident

Hi, I'm Bonk! I have type two narcolepsy, severe anxiety, PTSD, trichotillomania, depression, and am autistic.

I feel like it's hard for me to ask for help because I feel like it makes me seem less than. However, changing your mindset helps a lot. It's hard to start advocating for yourself, but it's the best way to make progress and get the help you need. I especially started learning such this year with getting my 504, narcolepsy diagnosis, etc. I'm wishing you the best, if you ever need to talk, lmk ♡

I HAVE LUPUS AND MS. I AM TIRED OF HEARING PEOPLE SAY
"YOU LOOK SO GOOD, HOW CAN YOU BE SO SICK" I HAVE AN INTERNAL DISABILITY THAT HAS INTERNAL PROBLEMS. HANDICAPPED PHYSICALL INTERNALLY SICK. I HATE WHEN PEOPLE LOOK AT YOU STRANGE??? I HAVE BEEN ALONE SICK MY MOTHER PASSED AWAY. I AM SO TIRED AND YET I DO NOTHING!!! I HURT ALL OVER AND I HATE TO TAKE STEROIDS OR CHEMO. THAT IS MY ONLY OPTIONS!! I NEED TO STOP THE PAIN AND THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TAKING THOSE DRUGS. THE SIDE EFFECTS ARE JUST AS BAD AS THE DISEASE!!!!!! I DO NOT LIKE PEOPLE STARING AT ME BECAUSE I HAVE ALREADY LOST MOST OF MY HAIR IN THE FRONT AND SIDE., WITHOUT TAKING THE MEDS. THE LUPUS IS MAKING ME LOSE HAIR. I GUESS IF IT JUST A LITTLE IT IS NOT BIG DEAL. BUT, IF I TAKE THE MEDS--I WILL LOSE ALMOST ALL OF IT. I JUST THINK THAT SOCIETY THINKS OF US NEGATIVE AND THEY GIVE US PITY.. I DO NOT WANT ANY OF IT JUST A CURE OR BETTER WAY OF TREATING THE DISEASE. I ALREADY HAVE AN IMPLANT IN MY STOMACH. IT IS A MORPHINE PUMP AND TOMORROW I GET IT CLEANED OUT AND REFILLED. PLEASE KEEP ME IN YOUR PRAYERS AND I COME ONLINE WHEN I GET A CHANCE. IT WILL TAKE ME 5 TO 10 MINUTES TO GET UP FROM THE CHAIR--(COMPUTER ROOM) PLEASE KNOW THAT WE ARE NOT ALONE AND THEIR ARE PEOPLE WHO HAVE LUPUS OR MS OR BOTH THEY DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO KNOW!!!!! WHICH I THINK IS TERRIBLE BECAUSE LESS MONEY WILL GO INTO RESEARCH IF PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THE DISEASES. AWARENESS MAKES A IG DIFFERE4NCE WHEM IT COMES TO FUNDING FOR RESEARCH.

WISHING EVERYONE PAIN FREE DAYS AND A SPECIAL THANKS TO LIZZI FOR WORKING ON THE WEBSIITE. (((((((LIZZI))))))))))
