I have schizoaffective bipolar type, bpd, GAD, and complex ptsd. When im really anxious I get irritated so easily and often. Im trying to keep from taking so much as needed medication for anxiety, any tips or ideas of how to deal? I have 2 young active kids and I want to be good mommy, and not grouchy mommy. Im struggling and I don't want it to affect my kids.

Hi @AlissamF,

Thank you so much for sharing this, it truly takes a lot of courage to speak so honestly about how anxiety and irritability turn up, especially when you’re trying to be present for your children. These conditions can put your nervous system in a state of constant alert, and a lot of times, getting irritated is a sign of being overwhelmed rather than a lack of love or effort. You thinking about this so deeply already says a lot about the kind of parent you are. 🩵

To open this up to others in the community:

  • Have you noticed irritability increasing when your anxiety spikes, especially while parenting or caregiving?
  • What has helped you calm those moments, even slightly, when medication isn’t the route you want to take every time?
  • How do you talk to yourself afterwards, when guilt or frustration creeps in?

If you’re trying to sort out how to get a proper medical cannabis prescription, checking what is what is fp10 helped me make sense of the process. I went through a private clinic, and once they confirmed I was eligible, getting the FP10 was pretty straightforward. Using that info through Releaf made it easier to figure out what paperwork I actually needed.

FP10

An FP10 is the paper copy of a prescription written out or typed, printed, and signed by a prescribing specialist.

I completely understand that struggle; the "mom guilt" combined with irritability is exhausting. Sometimes just stepping into another room for five minutes of deep breathing helps me reset before engaging with the kids again.
