So my doctor told me that I can genetically pass down AS and my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for a while so just want to ease my mind a bit. I just wanted to know what the chances are like if there's anyone here who might have kids and if so did they get it too

Hi @lanabanana

How are you doing today?

It seems like you've already talked to your doctor about this, so you may know the chances. But I will tag Carenity members and they can let you know how often AS has appeared in their family.

Do your parents or siblings have AS? Do you have kids? Do they have AS?

Take care,

It's completely natural to have concerns about passing down AS to your baby. While there is a genetic component to AS, it doesn't guarantee that your child will have it. It's important to stay informed and work closely with your doctor to understand the risks and take necessary precautions. Many people with AS have healthy children without the condition. If you're looking for some peace of mind, you can also consider genetic counseling to assess the likelihood of passing down AS. Stay positive and keep communicating with your doctor.
