Hello,

I would like to know how spondylitis evolve? With time, are we condemned to stop working? To take biotherapies? Do we all end up disabled?

Thank you in advance for your answers, I am worried about my future...

I was diagnosed in my mid 30's. I had it since my early 20's but the Doctors I was seeing at the time did not do the proper tests to zero in on what was really behind my symptoms. In my mid 30's I was thinking I was going to be dead by 50. I am 67 now. I retired almost 4 years ago, my choosing.

Find a good Rheumatologist, get some good anti-inflammatory drugs and stick with the plan. Your body and range of motion will dwindle in some aspects. I play golf 1-2 times per week and enjoy myself. I no longer swim very well, and I have given up high speed (high impact) sports like biking.

I have been on Enbrel for 20+ years. OK if you are commercial insurance, a huge cost if not. I'm lucky, I can afford it so far.
