Hello everyone,

How are you today? emoticon cute

According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), there is no evidence showing that animals can transmit COVID-19 to humans, but the opposite may be possible!

Dogs, cats (both domestic and large cats) and minks have tested positive for COVID-19 in the field after having been in close contact with humans known or suspected to be infected by the virus. Animals have not shown signs of severe complications like humans, but may experience respiratory or digestive symptoms.

To protect them, basic hygiene measures should always be implemented. This includes hand washing before and after being around or handling animals, their food or supplies, as well as avoiding kissing, being licked by animals, or sharing food. People who are suspected or confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus should minimise close direct contact with their companioon animals and have another members of their household care for them. If they must look after their pet, they should maintain good hygiene practices and wear a face mask if possible.

Have you taken special precautions with your pets? Have you heard any more information about this from your vet or in the media?

Feel free to share here!

Take care of yourself and your four-legged friends, emoticon dogemoticon cat2

@Courtney_J Thanks for this information! I hadn't really thought much about it, but I did see that some tigers at a zoo in New York had got it!

I've been making sure to wash the dog regularly and pay attention to his paws in particular. I'm not sure if they can pick up the virus in their fur or paws on walks, but it feels like the right thing to do.

Stay safe everyone!
