Hello everyone, how do you feel today?

Just when it felt like the world had finally caught its breath, a new COVID variant called NB.1.8.1 is gaining ground in the U.S. and over 20 other countries. While it hasn’t been labeled as high-risk (yet), health officials are keeping a close eye on it as cases slowly rise across several states.

🧬 What do we know so far?

  • NB.1.8.1 symptoms appear similar to previous strains: sore throat, fever, fatigue, congestion, and body aches.
  • The WHO reports that current vaccines are still expected to protect against severe illness caused by this variant.
  • That said, the variant may be more transmissible, possibly sneaking past some immune protection from previous infections or vaccinations.
  • As of early June, CDC data shows COVID infections are rising in 6 U.S. states, but still declining in others.

In short: we’re not in a full-blown surge, but the possibility is there, especially as summer travel picks up and people spend more time indoors to avoid extreme heat.

💭 Let’s open the floor:

COVID may not be front-page news every day anymore, but for many of us, especially those with chronic illness, disabilities, or caregiving responsibilities, it’s never really gone away.

  • How are you feeling about the news of this new variant? Are you worried? Tired? Numb? All of the above?
  • Have you made any changes to your habits lately, like masking again, delaying appointments, or avoiding travel?
  • What kind of information or support helps you feel more grounded when headlines like this emerge?

There’s no pressure to have the “right” answer or approach. Whether you’re still being extremely cautious or just starting to think about COVID again, your experience is valid.

Best,

After the original COVID fiasco and lies from everyone involved, I do not believe anything from the WHO.

I hate Covid with a vengeance well ever since I had the vaccine my life was one of doing so much for everyone to now hardly walking tremors seizures you name it, to my face the hospitals have admitted it was the vaccine but they won’t put it in writing,to me I don’t care about this new variant I will just carry on regardless to me it is all man made when I was growing up it was called the flu, it is another way of these people to make money not caring about us they chuck me on the scrap heap I will never trust them again
