Hey everyone, how are you doing today?

From cleaning sprays and laundry detergents to scented candles and non-stick pans, many everyday household items contain chemicals that may affect our health, especially when we live with a chronic condition.

Some members of the community have shared that cutting back on certain products helped with allergies, headaches, asthma, skin flare-ups, or just gave them peace of mind.

💭 What about you?

  • Have you ever tried reducing chemical exposure at home?
  • What swaps or habits actually made a difference for you?
  • Any tips or natural alternatives you’d recommend to others?

Hi. Thanks for starting question. Forever chemicals, oh Boy!! How true is that......... I have bad allergies, I mean year round, cat dander, pollen, dust, even "life" lol. Take allergy shots regularly. Clinic offers samples of laundry detergent, All Gentle. Now I use that. Can I tell any difference? Not much. Floors are very dusty/dirty, I get on hands & knees to wash artificial linoleum. Carpet needs sweeping Much!! Just don't do it, as stirring up dust is Not Good. My desk is getting Slowly cleaned, paper by pieces of paper.......... some of stuff on it gets sent for Christmas, cards, etc. Living in apartment, I have limited space for storage. Also washing clothes costs money, of which I lack. We all kinda lack, due to orange guy in office (😡). Bought more dish soap other day, to get kitchen cleaned. Not expensive, Walmart brand, but ought to last a while, I hope! Try to drop shoes by door upon coming in, which reduces outside yuck in here. I had thought plants help clean air, um, not mine. I continue killing them, no green thumb. Succulents, 0 place to garden, so soil & leaves keep wilting. What have others tried?

Cutting down chemicals at home works best when you start with small changes. Switching to basic cleaners like vinegar, baking soda, and mild soaps made a clear difference for me. I also replaced strong air fresheners with open windows or natural scents. These steps kept the house clean without the heavy smell that harsh products leave behind.

Eager to learn more, so one day i may able to resolve the problem.
