Utah has become the first state to officially ban fluoride in public drinking water, a move that has reignited a heated debate across the country. For decades, adding fluoride to water has been celebrated as a major public health win, dramatically lowering rates of cavities and dental decay, especially among children and low-income communities.

But now, some are raising concerns about possible links between fluoride and other health issues like neurological development or bone conditions. Meanwhile, the CDC still considers community water fluoridation one of the greatest public health achievements of the 20th century.
