Hello everyone,

How are you doing today?

Election season can bring about stress and anxiety for many people, no matter who they're voting for. Whether it’s the intense media coverage, constant discussions online, or concern about the future, this time can feel overwhelming. Some people even experience symptoms of what’s been called “election anxiety” where the constant buzz around politics creates tension, irritability, or even trouble sleeping. It’s normal to feel uneasy, especially when so much can feel out of our control.

If you’re experiencing election anxiety, here are some ways to help manage it:

  1. Limit media consumption: Constant news updates can intensify stress, so consider setting a time limit for checking the news each day. Taking breaks from social media can also give your mind a chance to relax.
  2. Practice mindfulness and deep breathing: Meditation, deep breathing, or even just a few moments of quiet can help calm the mind and reduce tension.
  3. Stay active and get outside: Physical activity, even a short walk, can reduce stress levels. Spending time in nature, if possible, can be especially grounding.
  4. Engage with friends and family: Sharing your feelings with others can be a big help. Find people who support you and focus on positive, non-political conversations for a mental break.
  5. Channel your energy positively: Focusing on actions you can control, like voting, volunteering, or supporting a cause you believe in, can help you feel more empowered and less anxious.

Have you felt election anxiety? What strategies have helped you manage it?
