Hello everyone, how are you doing today? 😊

As we get older, losing some muscle mass is a normal part of ageing, but it doesn’t have to be inevitable or unmanageable. Muscle atrophy, or the thinning of muscle, can make daily tasks harder and increase the risk of falls or injury. The good news? It’s possible to slow or even reverse it!

📌 Have you noticed a change in your strength or mobility in recent years?

📌 What kinds of movement or exercises, brisk walking, swimming, yoga, or strength training, have worked for you?

📌 Do you have any tips for staying active when energy is low or when you're dealing with pain or illness?

Even small amounts of movement can make a difference. Let’s share what helps us stay strong and independent. 💪

Take care,

Somya from the Carenity Team 🌼

Happy Monday over. Fun saying that. How do I keep up w maintaining muscle? I walk in nice time of year, or else, when insurance provides, go to the YW once a week. They've taken my membership away! Yet they pay 100% of meds. I have Medica. Since breaking bones last winter, ought to lift cans of food, good substitute for weights. While sitting watching TV, couldn't hurt. Pull out of pantry, easy to do. Also take calcium & magnesium daily. Beneficial supplements.

Thanks for starting question Somya. What do others do?

I am fortunate to have a local cancer center that offers free fitness classes for cancer patients. The program is called CancerFit and each patient receives one-on-one strength training coaching by a certified professional trainer. I have been part of the program for three years and my body mass index has gone down, I am physically stronger, and I now have visible muscle definition. There are days I really don’t want to go, but I always do, and I leave feeling revitalized and with more energy. I wish every cancer patient had access to a program like this one!
