Hello everyone,

How are you doing today?

Many Carenity members are involved in their local communities. Some volunteer at local hospitals or charities. Others participate at their children's school committees. Let's talk about all the ways we give back to our communities!

How do you volunteer? What extra activities are you involved in? Do you participate at events with the aim of raising awareness regarding your illness?

I am involved with an International Organization that focuses on community betterment and personal fulfillment. We have Urban Gardens around the City this branch is based out of. We also do Urban Beautification on some of the busier streets and neighborhoods with planters that contain seasonal flowers. Every May, for the last 25 years, we run an eleven mile recreational bike ride through the city, entering every neighborhood and raising money for the Organization.

I do volunteer, mainly at my church. I oversee our bag lunch program, help with produce distribution on the 3rd Tuesday, volunteer in the main office at least one morning a week, and help in any other I can. I also participate in a Faith and Mental Health Conference every year where I share my story, as well as participate in the Out Of The Darkness Walk with the American Federation For Suicide prevention, also do advocating with them. Oh, I also do the opening prayer at church every Sunday and I always include specific prayers for those of us living with mental health illness, I do try raise awareness regarding my depression.
