I want to ask for antidepressants. I only know about valium and xanax. What is the difference? Does any one take these? Do they help?

I would recommend that you talk with your doctor about available options. They will be able to look your current and historic medical history and be able to advise on the best medication for your situation.

@LizziB I've taken both of these and recommended not taking either one. They are seriously addictive and nobody should be on them but that's my opinion. Xanax works great for me until it doesn't and I'll be in a cycle trying to get off. My prescriber gave me benzos one time when I was in a severe manic state for months. I begged her and I didn't abuse them. They were slow acting benzos I forgot the name but they didn't get me high like Xanax does. If you have anxiety and your not diagnosed manic you can take SSRIs. I'm diagnosed with schizoaffective and I take perfenizine which helps a lot. Currently getting off them though and changing over to vraylar. Clonodine has been the best medication I've taken for anxiety but I've been on it for years so it doesn't work as well as it did in the beginning years. I strongly recommend anyone to stay away from benzos and barbiturates because of what they can do to you. They can make you more depressed and have adverse side effects. Godspeed
