Hi, I'm a 65 yr old grandmother. I suffer with cirrhosis, osteoarthritis, depression, anxiety, panic attacks and hepatic encephalopathy. Lately I've become really obsessed with dying, I can't get it out of my head. I know everyone dies but because I'm sick I feel like I won't see my 70th birthday. There have been days when it's really bad and I just wish it would all end. Anyone else feel this way?

Hello @Pebbles21, how are you doing today?

I'm really sorry to hear that you've been feeling this way. It's completely normal to have concerns about mortality, especially when dealing with health issues, but it's important to remember that there are people who care about you and want to support you through these difficult times. Have you considered reaching out to a counselor, therapist, or support group? It could be worthwhile to share your thoughts and feelings with others who may have similar experiences. You absolutely don't have to go through this alone.

Additionally, if you ever find yourself in a crisis, please reach out to a helpline. They are staffed with trained professionals who are there to listen and help.

Please remember that your life has value, and there are people who want to support you through these challenging times. Don't hesitate to seek help and lean on your support system.

Let me invite a few members of our community to share their thoughts:

Hi @Pebbles21. Thx for reaching out. Yes, aging & thoughts of death are common, as I understand it. I'm 57, due to my insane exhaustion, I sometimes feel like I won't make 60. Joked w my doc other day, as I see sleep medicine next month, told doc I'll die before then. Feeling this worn out takes a toll! Used to sometimes wish everything would just end. Then, got nephew, who is my pride & joy, Charlie!! Life is more than worth it all. Take best care

Thank you all for your encouraging words. I am feeling better, I had accidentally forgotten a couple of my psychiatric medicines which really messed me up. My husband has stepped up and is helping me with my medicines now. I was also isolating myself which is really bad for me. I did go to my doctor yesterday and I'm going to get back into therapy. This just shows how important it is to relay on the people closest to us.
