I'm a single dad, I work full time and care for my two boys at the same time. My wife left us 7 years ago. I haven't had a raise at my job in 3 years. I work on the line at a factory. I hate it but I don't think I will be able to find anything else. The hours are long, so I worry in the next few years my kids will get into trouble after school. Right now a neighbor watches them when they get back, but the plan is for her to move in with her in-laws soon. I'm just such a mess, our house is a mess. I don't sleep well, I'm always worried about money. I've gained so much weight after a car accident left me with a bum leg. I'm disgusted with myself. The only really thing keeping me going is my kids, but I also think they would just be better off with their mother some times. We don't talk, I don't know where she is, but it has to be better than the environment I have here for my kids.
I don't really know how to make things better for them. I'm so depressed its hard to be motivated. I need help and I don't know where to go

Hello, @ajax1292, how are you feeling today?

I'm really sorry to hear about your struggles. It's important to reach out to local social services or support organizations for single parents. They can provide guidance on financial assistance, childcare options, and emotional support. Don't be too hard on yourself; seeking help is a brave step toward improving your situation and ensuring the best for your kids.

I'll now go ahead and invite a few members of our community to share if they've experienced something similar and what helped them get out of the situation:

Hi @ajax1292

How are you doing today?

Many of us feel overwhelmed, and it seems like you are in this period of time, just have hope that it will get better. It may take time, and some work, but things will improve! Remember, you are not alone, other neighbors, family and friends are always willing to help, and you never know what kind of community programs are around. Let me tag a few other members who may be able to share their stories of struggle and success.

@Tianpler @HALBEL @Bhekiwonga @KgolaSekee @Bryant334 @Marvellegund303 @Tculberson @tagaolosally @ILIA0913 @RescueMom @venusfine @mgracewalk @scanmywristforfreefood @Echointhestars @Kai1307 @[R]181-Lola @A.McKenna @Lalove78 @Alexa_a @adiallo1994 @kmpage03 @hijustakid @HippieO @peace818 @Keandra0306 @Wolfie236 @jayburt4 @Crazycat @romeydaughter @sadieegrayy @Dawn0695 @Blood31 @Joneboy57 @Hope169 @lawnmeower_ @Thatdizzyedge @op513_ @Karakraputo @annazach @LifeGetsWorse @Mommyof2 @Lisa143 @Carrie68 @Mollyfox2001 @MagicSchoolBusDropOut @cmuang2024 @neon44 @kingstephen2009 @PhoenixTJ @Mirandalol12 @Minaroz @Lidia.A @Corinne#88 @Kiersten @Ilovemycatozzy @loivyyy @mrscarone @charding8290 @Tescott1981 @chais18a

Has your life ever been overwhelming? How did you get out of the slump? Who did you turn to? What advice can you offer @ajax1292 ?

Take care,
