Hello,
I have depression, anxiety, and epilepsy.
Does anyone have a support animal to calm you down or in this case a trained dog for epilepsy? I've had dogs practically all my life but now my bf has a cat so I dont exactly go crazy for a cat rather than a dog. It's about 50/50 though.
What conditions would qualify you to have a service animal/support pet? I am doing some research but was curious of how common/rare it is in this time and age. I would love to hear from anyone that has experience

@Vhicks95 Hello Vhicks95, thank you for starting this discussion. Let me tag some members who can potentially share their experience with you.
Hello everyone, how are you today? Do you have a support or service animal or pet? How do you apply or qualify for one? Do you know what steps Vhicks95 should take or do you have any information or advice?

I don't. It would be nice to get one though.

I have Fibromyalgia, Neuropathy, Sleap Apnea, and other health issues. I do also suffer from anxiety and depression. I have a therapy cat. His name is Jonah. I have had him since he was 3.5 months old. He is now almost six years old. He is always making sure I am doing ok. If I am not feeling well he will be by my side.

@SabinaYetta52 Hi SabinaYetta52, thank you for sharing Jonah's photo with us! He's adorable! Was he trained to be a therapy cat, or was he just a natural? It's amazing how animals can sense when we're not feeling well.
Take care,
Courtney

@Courtney_J Hi, Thank you for your kind words. Jonah was not trained. He just does it naturally. I am planning to have him certified.

I have diabetes, PTSD, depression, neuropathy, asthma, and Type2 diabetes. Have had a black cocker spaniel as a service dog for 7 years. I got her when she was 2. Her name is Ellie Mae and is the best thing for me. She's mild, highly intelligent, has learned sound and hand signals and is so helpful.
