I had high cholesterol without knowing it. Apparently it runs in my family and I hadn't been to the doctor in forever for a check-up. I had also not been handling my weight or diet at all. I had no idea that NASH was even a thing or a possibility, I'd only ever heard of liver disease from alocholism or liver cancer and barely even had heard of hepatitis. You don't really hear a lot about liver health outside of alcohol, I wish that would change. Maybe it could save other people from this.

@kimcallaway12 These can be conditions like obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. These factors can worsen liver health, leading to inflammation and liver damage. Obesity, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol strain the liver, while diabetes affects how the body handles sugar, impacting liver function. These risks make it crucial to manage weight, control blood pressure and cholesterol levels, regulate blood sugar, and adopt a healthy lifestyle to reduce the chances of developing NASH or NAFLD.

@kimcallaway12 Absolutely no need to apologize! We're all learning here and supporting each other with resources. 😄
NASH, or Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis, is a progressive liver disease characterized by fat buildup in the liver, leading to inflammation and liver cell damage. It's a more severe form of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), where excessive fat accumulates in the liver but doesn't cause inflammation. NASH can progress to cirrhosis or liver cancer, posing significant health risks. Lifestyle changes like a balanced diet, exercise, and managing underlying conditions are crucial in managing NAFLD. Monitoring and early intervention are essential for NASH to prevent complications and progression to more severe liver damage.

I have all of that they would say liver blood work a little high and ultrasound 5 years ago showed fatty liver as I went in due to my left rib cage hurting for no reason. Turns out I have been swollen that long and they did not specifically say you need to manage items to stop liver from getting worse. Now my fibers can is 20.7 and they want me for a research study. Feeling crappy

Hello,
Did any of you have the common risk factors associated with diagnosis of NAFLD: obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes?
I was already overweight, but not severely obese. I wish I would have taken better care of myself and maybe I would not have had this dang condition.
