Hello,

When suffering with depression, it is condition that needs attention and sometimes that attention is supplemented with various treatments and/or medication. What is your treatment and/or medication you use to cope with depression.

I am hoping this generates a discussion where people can learn from others on what has worked and not worked for others. Please feel free to post the traditional treatments of medication and counseling, and other non-traditional methods of treatment such as accupuncture and massage.

I look forward to your responses.

I am on 30 mg of Lexapro (generic brand Escilitopram)... I do not know if it really is working. I am depressed because of the pain I am in every day. I have intense pain in my elbows and nerves into my hands stemming from my neck... it has been this way for years.

Every day I wake up with the pain, so it is hard to not be depressed.

I use to take medication and see a therapist in the back. However, I have no longer do either. Now I try drawing, poetry, talking to a friend, exercising and going out instead of staying home hiding in my room because sometimes I feel worse when I’m not going anywhere. Doing things helps keep me distracted.

That's great! I started doing Zumba. And I love it. The girls are nice. And it's not a gym with a lot of people. I feel comfortable with a small group. I'm still taking my depression medication.

@Hidden username Have you noticed anything at all negatively in your depression when you got off the medicine? IF you do not mind me asking what medicine were you on?

I wish I could get off mine, but when I Stop taking medicine, I will be ok for a few weeks and then I will hit rock bottom. I hit close to rock bottom even while on anti-depressants, but lets say rock bottom is 100 ft below  -  I hit that weeks after I stop taking medicine, but if on it when I do get really down I hit about 80 ft below.

@Hidden username I wish I could rid myself of the medicinations! Even when I exercise I still can hit close to rock bottm. I guess maybe that is because I carry around the thing that makes me depressed every day... No matter what I do my mind thinks and my body feels what is causing my depression.

I know that feeling. We are always going to feel what we feel because of our depression. I have my bad days no matter what I'm doing to make it better. And for that moment I lose my breath . And I feel so lost. Stay strong.....
